Exercise: My Home My Space

Task
This is an introduction to building materials that are commonly used in construction industry nowadays. Students should produce an A2 presentation board(landscape) in soft copy with a least 5 analysis of the favorite space in their home chosen by themselves.

Reflection

Through this exercise, i had learnt more about the materials that used in the construction industry. I am able to identify different building materials used in my home as well as their properties. 

Project 1a:" Materiality of SPACE: An experiential exploration"

Task A

1.        Brief introduction of the selected building & Reason for selecting the space

2.        Mood Board

• Your mood boards should include color, pattern, photographs, sketches and informative design elements to reflect the material used and ambience of the space of your choice.(without using any words or description)

3.        Identification of Materials

• Draw out plans, sections and elevations to indicate the materials.
• Explain briefly the types of material that are used in a specific area/space,

4.        Application of Materials

• The physical and chemical properties of these materials
• Explain the suitability of material used in context to concept, occupancy and climate.
• Explain and illustrate the findings in detail in term of suitability of the materials type, application, aesthetic, maintenance, etc.

Reflection

Through this assignment,I am able to identify more building materials that used in the interior as well as the exterior building. Besides that, I also understand the effects of materials on aesthetics and structural qualities of a space or building.Through understanding the materials' properties, I also know the  application of the materials on specific environment is very important.


Project 2: Material Used Shown Qualities of Space

Task
Students are required to produce an A3 size presentation board about then analysis of materials used in their design hideout.

Reflection

Through this assignment, I learnt more about the special and future materials when I am searching for information. Besides that, I had also learnt about the types of materials used can create different quality and also experience in the space. Throughout the whole semester, I had learnt a lot from the lectures given about the properties and usage of the materials in the construction industry.
